ABOUT KAI

Ever since he could hold a crayon, Kai has been compelled to create. Making art has always been instinctive - a way of processing the world, emotions, and human connection through form, texture, and mark.

Working fluidly across mediums, Kai’s practice spans painting, graphite drawing, ink marker, clay sculpture, photography, and large-scale murals. His work is raw, unapologetic, and honest to the core, driven by an ongoing exploration of human emotion, vulnerability, and the quiet tensions that exist beneath the surface of everyday life.

From a young age, art became Kai’s refuge. While in primary school, he found his happy place attending Geelong Fine Art School, where structured creative exploration provided both grounding and freedom. This foundation was later strengthened when Kai was awarded the Russell Drysdale Art Scholarship at Geelong Grammar School, enabling him to complete his VCE with a strong focus on three folio-based subjects in his final year.

Kai’s work has already gained significant recognition. He has served as a Youth Ambassador for the Geelong Gallery, painted major murals at Geelong Grammar School and St Joseph’s College Geelong, and was named a Copic Australia Ambassador in December 2025. A defining early moment came when Snoop Dogg shared one of Kai’s portraits on Instagram, marking his first major international exposure.

Now based in Melbourne, Kai is currently in his first year of the Bachelor of Architecture at RMIT University. Alongside his architectural studies, he continues to develop his independent art practice - creating works that sit at the intersection of emotion, structure, and human experience.

Kai’s work is not about perfection. It is about truth, presence, and connection - art that asks the viewer to feel before they understand.
